Kindergarten Enrollment FAQS
Although most questions surrounding a child’s entrance into kindergarten are those pertaining to academics, there are also many questions that arise on a more technical note. Enrollment age, kindergarten continuance, and extended day kindergarten are all issues which tend to have many questions surrounding them.
The California Department of Education has put together a portion of their web site dedicated to answering such questions. It is intended as a guide for parents and guardians, as well as teachers of preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students. It gives specific information regarding kindergarten and first grade enrollment along with guides for parents who have children that do not meet the age requirements but are eager to enroll their child as soon as possible. (Please be aware that under-age enrollment is up to the school districts and not the parents.)
The state-sponsored site also includes links to further reading on topics covered. You can also view a list of additional resources available to parents and teachers as provided by the California Department of Education.
As the start of kindergarten approaches, you will probably have many questions about academic and technical procedures. Hopefully, a quick visit to this web site will help answer many of these technical questions before they even arise.
