Check Out Your Library
I live in a pretty small town. Even our tiny little library, however, is offering a summer reading program for children as young as 2 1/2. They will read stories, play games, and complete craft activities for one hour each week. My children, like most others I know, love going to the library and are sure to enjoy visiting on a weekly basis this summer. Check out your own local library to see what type of children’s activities they may be planning.
If you’re not sure which libraries are closest to you, simply click on the “Library Locator” link on the left. You can then click on the location nearest you on the map of Orange County. Individual library information will then be given, such as library hours, children story times, and special programs that are being offered at that branch.
Also, anyone with an Orange County Public Library card can also access books online. So even on those days when you can’t get out of the house, you can download a book for your child to listen to or one you can read together online. Just go to http://egov.ocgov.com/ocgov/OC%20Public%20Libraries and click on the link for eAudio/eBooks in the middle of the page. There is a menu on the left to help answer any questions you have about how to install the needed software and check out the books.
