Takes My Breath Away
My baby turned three-years-old this week, and he still takes my breath away. As I am sure most any mother can, I am able to clearly recall the day he was born. It was a quick, easy (if there is such a thing when there are no medications involved) birth. He was placed on my chest immediately after he was born as the nurses cleaned him. I can remember being completely elated and my breath was gone.
Three years later, he is still a beautiful little boy, but he takes my breath away for a different reason as well. He is…well…adventurous, to put it gently. The child can climb any object that has any semblance of a foot or hand hold. He has no concept of danger, and, on a daily basis, he will propel himself from a piece of furniture or other object taller than he.
I am convinced that one day he will be an avid rock climber or have a profession where he gets to scale a ladder every day of the week. Perhaps he will “leap tall buildings in a single bound”. He is already practicing which, again, takes my breath away.
