Christmas Music
It is a week before Thanksgiving, and we started listening to Christmas music today. I used to make a rule in my own head that I would not start playing Christmas music until Black Friday. However, now that children are in the picture, this rule has been blown away with the wind and the snow.
Although I love Christmas music, and I secretly love listening to it before Thanksgiving, there are times during the holiday season where one more playing or singing of “Jingle Bells” feels like it will leave me” dashing through the snow” all the way to the nuthouse. It is at these times, I must remind myself that, although this may be the hundredth time I have heard the song this year, to my children, it is still very new and exciting. For my three-year-old, this is probably only the second Christmas he remembers. All of the songs, decorations, traditions, etc. are all very new to him.
So as I go about my usual holiday preparations, I will do my best to remain sane. I will make every effort to feed off of my childrens’ excitement and return to the days when I was “laughing all the way” to Christmas morning.
