Easter Egg Rhyme Games | The Preschooler

Easter Egg Rhyming

Here are two games you can play with your child to practice and strengthen her rhyming skills.  The great thing about these games is that you only have to make one set of materials in order to create both games.

You will need two dozen plastic, colored Easter eggs (You can use more or less eggs to vary the difficulty of the games.)  Create 12 pairs of rhyming pictures using clip art, such as hair and chair.  Cut out the pictures.

Game 1

Place each picture into an egg.  Put all of the eggs into an Easter basket.  Have your child pick out two of the eggs and identify the pictures inside each.  If the words rhyme, she may keep the eggs.  If the words do not rhyme, the eggs are put back into the basket and mixed up.

Game 2

Using only one dozen of the eggs, take the eggs apart and place them open-side-down on a table creating a 4 x 6 grid.  Place the picture cards under the eggs in a random order.  You now have a memory game that you can play using the same rules you would normally use for a memory game.
