Print a Book from Blogs about Your Family | The Preschooler

Blog to Book

My two little boys are friends with a little girl who lives down the street.  I babysit her on occasion because neither her mother nor father have family that live nearby.  Her mother and I also have a friendship that has allowed us both to take part in many of the milestones each of our children have achieved.

Unfortunately, since both of their families live some quite some distance away, they have not been able to see many of these “firsts” for themselves.  However, my friend has been extremely diligent about keeping a blog up to date.  When she first gave birth to her little girl, she developed a simple web page using a web hosting platform.  At first, the web page was very simple, and she only used it to write little blips about her daughter’s day.  Now it is full of pictures, video clips, and even artwork.

She loved that she was able to keep her family informed and involved in her daughter’s life, but wished she were able to keep these precious moments in a more tangible form.  She was elated when she discovered there are many services available that will now take your blog on a web site and put it into a book format.  Many companies can even include the pictures that are on your web site.

If you are a blogger and want to try turning your blog into a book, check out www.blurb.com , www.blog2print.com, or any of the other numerous sites that offer this service.

As of yet, I have not kept up with the milestones, daily happenings, or funny little things my children do.  When my friend told me about her web site for her daughter and how she prints it out in book form once each year, I told her how I wished I had done something similar.  She reassured me, “Your children are still young.  Start one now.”  Wise advice I am taking to heart and putting into action.
