Book Review: The Construction Alphabet Book
My preschooler loves cars, trucks, and pretty much anything that moves. He is not unlike most other boys his age. This is why I found it so frustrating that there weren’t any books that teach concepts preschoolers should be learning. There are fairy books and princess books galore that reinforce counting, shape, and alphabet skills. Why aren’t there any books for these skills that are about vehicles?
As it turns out, there is at least one. The title of the book is The Construction Alphabet Book, and it is written by Jerry Pollatta. The beautiful, life-like paintings were done by Rob Bolster.
I haven’t yet read it to my son, but I know he is going to love it. He will recognize many of the common construction vehicles, such as a cement mixer and a backhoe. However, he will also enjoy learning about some vehicles that will be new to him, including a knucklboom loader and a vactor.
I am hoping that he enjoys the book enough that, when he gets to the end, he will be up to the challenge the author leaves for the reader. Instead of ending at Z, Pollata starts the alphabet over with A, B, and C, but leaves the rest of the alphabet to the imagination of the reader.
