Dot-to-Dot Letters
When I think of a “dot-to-dot” puzzle, I usually visualize a piece of paper with a large group of dots with sequenced numbers next to them. When connected in order, these dots and the lines drawn, form a picture. However, I recently came across a different version of a dot-to-dot that can be used to help children learn to correctly form their letters.
The web site www.do2learn.com provides activities that parents and teachers can do with their children or students with disabilities. However, typically, these activities are beneficial for any child. This includes the Dot-to-Dot Letters you are able to print directly from their site.
Begin by printing the worksheet that displays each letter of the alphabet with both a shadow and a series of dots. You can have your child complete the letters in order or cut them apart and complete them in groups, including those with only straight lines, those with curves, and those with circles.
Once your child has had a good deal of success with the letters that include the dots, print out the page of letters that have only shadows. Your child can now trace without the use of dots. The next step, of course, is to attempt to write letters without any guides.
