Highlights Magazine for Preschoolers
When I was young, I remember sitting in my room repeatedly reading through my latest issue of Highlights magazine from cover to cover. I loved the jokes and puzzles. I especially loved the picture comparisons where you had to figure out the differences from one picture to the other.
This magazine is still available today. My school-age son seems to enjoy the same aspects that I did as a child. My preschooler, however, would be lost in this magazine designed for older children. I was very excited to learn that Highlights now offers a version of their magazine designed specifically for younger kids.
The Highlights High Five magazine is intended for children ages two to six. It is perfect for my four-year-old as all of the activities seem to be right at his learning level. They are also simple and funny so they keep his attention longer.
Although, the cost of the magazine is a bit higher than I would normally pay for a children’s subscription (a one year subscription of twelve issues is around $35), I found it worth the price. These subscriptions are also a great idea for family members who are looking for a gift at special occasions that is not another toy. It is the perfect gift idea for out-of-town grandparents, and my own mother has already extended our subscription as part of my children’s birthday celebration!
