Going to the Doctors’ Office
We are very fortunate in our small town to have such a wonderful pediatric physicians’ office at our hospital. They are a group of three physicians who are all very caring, compassionate and eager to help even in situations that are not entirely medical. It is actually one of the factors I listed when my husband and I were trying to decide whether to stay in our small town or move to a bigger city.
All of this being said, I think they need to have their examination instruments checked. Whenever I visit their office with my younger son, I am consistently told the same thing. We could be going to them because of a broken toe, and I am convinced we would get the same result. “Well…”, the doctor will say with a scrunched-up look on his or her face, “He has an ear infection.”
I don’t even ask questions at this point. After four years of going to the doctors’ with this child, I think I should have a reserved parking space at the pharmacy next to the hospital on the day we also visit the pediatrician. Thankfully, my son loves the amoxicillin (AKA “The pink medicine”) and takes it without complaint. I am also thankful that we don’t have to visit the doctor more than once or twice each year!
