Scrambled Name

My preschooler does not yet know all of his letters.  He can write his first name, but his last name is still a bit illusive to him.  In an effort to help him recognize these letters, I came up with this simple activity that he enjoys.  I am excited that he likes the activity because I already have an idea of how to make it more difficult once he masters this beginning stage.

To begin, I typed the letters in his first and last names and left large spaces in between each letter.  I printed out the page and cut out the letters.  Right now I am keeping the letters of his first name and last name in separate bags.  He also uses a name-tag to help him with his last name.  I hand him the bags one at a time, and he lays out the letters in the correct order.

Once he is ready, I will take away the name-tag guide.  When he masters putting the letters in each name in order, I then plan on mixing up all of the letters from both names and having him unscramble them to create his first and last name in the correct order.

It took only a few minutes to create the game, but it is simple enough to hold is attention.  And, best of all, it can grow in difficulty as his own ability changes.
