Amazing Mazes
Little minds loved to be challenged. The more they are taught how to think and problem solve, the better they will be at it when bigger problems are encountered in the future. One way you can help your child keep their mind actively thinking is with mazes. While completing even a very simple maze, a child must analyze the situation to figure out which way to go. If they make a wrong turn, they must retrace their steps and try again. After practice completing several mazes, children also start to learn how to think ahead so that they don’t have to start over so many times. They learn that it is easier to use their eyes to see what the best available option is.
Mazes, of course, are only one way to keep your child’s mind active, but they are very easy to find on magazine shelves or online. They are also convenient because they are readily available in all levels of difficulty. Start with some very easy ones, and show your preschooler how o get from start to finish. Your child may be more interested if there is an actual goal such as, “Help the dog get to his house.” Pictures will also spike their interest. Most importantly, help your child have fun.
